Vanessa Audi Rhys O’Brien, is a British-American mountain climber, explorer, public speaker and former business executive and the first Woman to conquer K-2.

This was her third attempt at what many fear or fail to do, conquer the magnificent K-2. It is said that the third time is the charm and Vanessa would now strongly agree to the saying because she refused to give up after failing twice and finally made it at one of the highest points of the infamous “roof of the world”.

Inspiring Adventurers

“It is said when you climb Everest, you are a mountaineer in the eyes of the world, but when you climb K2 you are a mountaineer in the eyes of other climbers,”

“It is said when you climb Everest, you are a mountaineer in the eyes of the world, but when you climb K2 you are a mountaineer in the eyes of other climbers,” said O Brien before her climb. and she explained to our team why so. She told us that though it may not be the highest it is most certainly more difficult than “the king of giants” mount Everest. She explained how there have been fewer expeditions to K-2, less than 400, compared to Everest which boasts almost 7000 accents. she also explained how the death ratio for K-2 is higher than that of Everest. She tends to be an inspiration as she lived up to the example of the spider that never gave up in the story of Robert the Bruce. she fell down only to come again, fall again and finally accomplished what she wanted to do

A message for the strong women

She became the first woman to grace the peek of K-2. During our talk with her, she appreciated the fact that Pakistan was moving away from the negative stereo types about the situation of women

She is also an inspiration for Women all around the world as she became the first woman to grace the peek of K-2. During our talk with her, she appreciated the fact that Pakistan was moving away from the negative stereo types about the situation of women in the country and she reminded us that Pakistan had more opportunity for women than ever before. She explained that she saw a very high potential in the Nations proud daughters.

An ambassador for Pakistan

her message to everyone outside Pakistan is to visit the country because that is the best way to see the “culture in Lahore” and the “peaks in the north”

Vanessa also wanted to inspire people and mountaineers to come to Pakistan and see for themselves what Pakistan is all about. She directed her message to everyone outside Pakistan is to visit the country because that is the best way to see the “culture in Lahore” and the “peaks in the north”. She told us that the energy of the people was “contagious” and very high thus making her fall in love with the community that she will “miss very much”.

A Pakistani by heart

During the conversation, she explained how the majority of the countries population is that of a progressive “youth” and thus how she sees a very high potential. She demonstrated her mental capacity by narrating many things that show Pakistan is moving on the right path for instance how we were one of the best stock markets a few years back.

She also is an inspiration to Pakistani’s as she told us how she wanted to see Pakistanis embark on the epic journey to one of the wonders of the world. She jokingly also laid out her plan to use her sponsors to arrange that. During the interview, she explained how she always ended her adventures in Pakistan during independence week and thus saw all the patriotism and positiveness in the flesh.

She wished Pakistan a very Happy 70th independence day as she herself prepares for the festivities that take over the country on Monday.
