48 Laws of Power

This 11 minute video is a brief animated version of the book. It gives you insights into the 48 laws of power and how you can use them in present day life. However, reading the book itself is highly recommended, since the author illustrates each law with many different scenarios of how they can be implemented or were used throughout history. It has been said that 48 Laws of Power characterizes inter-dependency of human relationships through a cunning and cynical viewpoint. However, another way to see the book is a classic in the practical psychology of what drives human beings. Whether you want to understand your boss or your mother-in-law; it can be applied t48-laws-copyo work situations or to relationships with loved ones.  The author uses quotes from Machiavelli, Sun-tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other philosophers as well as internationally recognized statesmen of modern times to exemplify each law. Some laws require prudence (“Law 1: Never Outshine the Master”), some stealth (“Law 3: Conceal Your Intentions”) and some common sense (“Law 18: Do Not Build Fortresses to Protect Yourself”)

It was Robert Greene’s first book and has been a huge success with translations in over 24 languages. It is said that it was even read by former Cuban President, Fidel Castro!

Without enemies around us, we grow lazy. An enemy at our heels sharpens our wits, keeping us focused and alert. It is sometimes better, then, to use enemies as enemies rather than transforming them into friends or allies.
