Gloucester Officials Launch New App to Help Beachgoers Find Parking
As summer approaches, Gloucester officials are hoping to make it easier for people to hit the beaches with the help of a new app aimed at helping beachgoers find a place to park. The app, called Blinkay, can be downloaded from the Gloucester city website. It is open to out-of-towners, who just need to fill out some information about themselves and their vehicle before applying for a parking permit for Good Harbor Beach, Wingaersheek Beach or Stage Fort Park.
The app offers a range of services, including tracking cars as they leave to alert drivers when a parking space opens up. This feature aims to avoid mishaps from last year when spots and spaces were oversold. “We had one day that oversold by a few hundred,” said Gloucester Mayor Greg Verga. “We were able to set up an offsite parking area with shuttle service to the beach. So it was a headache for a day or so. But it worked out.”
Beachgoers can register for a spot in Gloucester up to 10 days in advance. Guests can officially start reserving a spot for May 27. The hope is that this new app will make it easier for visitors to enjoy the beaches without the stress of finding parking.
Beyond its spot near the beginning of the summer season, this upcoming holiday weekend also marks Gloucester’s 400th anniversary. Speaking with 7NEWS, Verga said the city is ready for a big celebration. “We’ve been tidying up and sprucing up all over the city in anticipation of the 400th but especially for this summer,” he said. “So, we’re ready to welcome with open arms.”
Gloucester is a beautiful coastal city located in Massachusetts. Its stunning beaches attract visitors from all over the world. However, finding parking can be a challenge, especially during peak season. The new Blinkay app aims to solve this problem by providing a convenient way for beachgoers to find parking.
The app is easy to use and can be downloaded from the Gloucester city website. Once downloaded, visitors can fill out some information about themselves and their vehicle before applying for a parking permit. The app also offers a range of services, including tracking cars as they leave to alert drivers when a parking space opens up.
Gloucester Mayor Greg Verga is optimistic about the new app and believes it will make a significant difference for visitors. “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to enjoy our beautiful beaches,” he said. “The Blinkay app is a great solution that will help visitors find parking without the stress.”
Gloucester is also preparing for its 400th anniversary celebration, which is set to take place this summer. The city has been tidying up and sprucing up in anticipation of the event. Mayor Verga is excited about the celebration and believes it will be a great opportunity for visitors to experience the city’s rich history and culture.
In conclusion, the new Blinkay app is a welcome addition for visitors to Gloucester’s beaches. It provides a convenient way to find parking and avoid the stress of searching for a spot. With the city’s 400th anniversary celebration just around the corner, there has never been a better time to visit Gloucester and experience all it has to offer.
