Mehak Pakistani Chess Player

Mehak Gul started to learn and master the game of chess from the age of 6. She first participated in an international chess event at the age of twelve, when she represented Pakistan at the 40th Chess Olympiad held at Istanbul, in 2012.

This was the first time a 12-year-old Pakistani participated in a chess Olympiad. At 14 years, she was the youngest Pakistani to participate in and win the Woman Candidate Master title at 42nd Chess Olympiad, held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Mehak also holds the Guinness world record for arranging a chessboard in a whopping span of forty-five seconds.

Her inspiring father, Muhammad Zahid, played a huge role in coaching her endlessly and supporting her, which led her to win many provincial and national championships since she was in middle school. With a FIDE rating‎ of ‎1580, Mehak dreams to do big in this industry. The young chess champion aims to become a Grandmaster, a title conferred by the World Chess Federation.
