COAS Asim Munir was a fast bowler during his teens

The newly appointed COAS General Asim Munir was a fast bowler during his teenage claims in a media report. His neighbors told to media that General Asim Munir used to play cricket in his hometown in Rawalpindi.

General Asim Munir belongs to a religious family with a humble background. All his siblings including him are Hafiz-e-Quran. His neighbors shared details of his childhood with the media. According to his neighbors, Asim Munir grew up loving cricket and used to be a fast bowler. He used to play cricket in the streets of College Area Rawalpindi.

One of his teachers at the madrassa told that all his siblings have memorized Holy Quran. He received his primary education from FC Technical School in Tariqabad, Rawalpindi where his father was a headmaster.

His neighbors say the family led a simple life. Asim Munir has not hurt anyone to date says one of his neighbors. He even constructed a mosque in his hometown. People say General Asim Munir has become the identity of this place across Pakistan. They expressed joy and excitement over his appointment as the Chief of Army Staff at Pakistan Army.

The change of command ceremony took place on Tuesday at the General Headquarters at Rawalpindi where the outgoing Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Bajwa has handed over command to the new COAS, General Asim Munir.

The outgoing Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa handed over the baton of command to the newly appointed 17th Army Chief General Asim Munir.

According to the details, General Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived at the venue along with his successor General Asim Munir after they visited the Yadgar-e-Shuhda. Both Gen Bajwa and Gen Munir laid a wreath at the Yadgar-i-Shuhada (Monument to Martyrs) in GHQ and offered fateha.
