Come and Celebrate Eid in Delhi!

Saurav Jha |

It’s that time of the year again! It’s Eid time in Delhi and across the globe, with the celebration being done depending upon the time zone you fall into. Being a Delhi wallah this writer has no qualms in stating that Eid in Delhi is as close to being traditionally unique here than anywhere else in the world.

Delhi has quite a large number of famous and historically important mosques that gets quite livened up especially during this time of the year. Once players get over the fun begins. You have malls, small shopping stalls to the big ones all catering to the young and olds. Also, there is always a Salman Khan movie in a theater near you during this time of the year.

The entire history of Delhi and a large core of Muslim population notwithstanding nobody quite celebrates the festival as Delhi does. People from all across India come to Delhi to earn their bread and when this otherwise ruthless city gives you a chance to celebrate you don’t want to miss out on it.

What really makes celebrations in Delhi unique is its history and general willingness in people to be part of each other’s celebrations. Nothing quite unites Delhiites as food and food are what you get in abundance and variety when Eid arrives. No matter who is in the power of the state or the center people in Delhi absolutely love their long standing culture and I don’t see it ever changing. Eid is a symbol of unity, inclusiveness, and diversity. Razzmatazz, celebrations, and nothing else matches those witnessed in Delhi. Come celebrate it with us!
