Last night, I was kidnapped and not arrested, because they did not introduce themselves despite my repeatedly asking them. There could be a respectable way to arrest people,

The PPP leader was later released, after National Accountability Bureau verified bail papers which had been submitted to the bureau by his counsel. He was arrested from the runway soon after his flight – coming from Dubai landed on Islamabad airport, by NAB’s officials and now faces a multibillion-rupee corruption case in NAB.

Mr. Memon narrated, that 8-10 men approached him at the airport, they were wearing plain clothes and forcibly boarded me on a vehicle. Further, he said, “I didn’t know I was being arrested until I came face to face with NAB officials.”

When a crackdown operation was started by NAB against political figures and bureaucrats in Karachi, former information minister, Inam Memon, fled from the country back in 2015 to avoid the charges of corruption and facing a trial. Since then he has been spending his time in Dubai and London under ‘self-exile’.

Before the information minister was taken into custody he was accompanied by Mukesh Chawla, Imdad Pitafi, Fayyaz Butt and Taimor Talpur, four provincial ministers of Sindh.

However, NAB filed a corruption reference against Mr. Memon which led further lead to his name being entered in Exit Control List (ECL) by federal government.

The alleged then challenged the case, with directions given to return to country and defend himself against the multibillion-rupees corruption with the deadline till April 5, to present himself in front of the competent court.

Rawal Sharjeel Memom, Sharjeel Inam Memon’s son, said after the arrest of his father, “there was a great chance of being arrested,” and claimed that Mr. Inam knew this beforehand. Further adding, in his tweets Sharjeel Memon’s son deemed this arrest as “ridiculous”.
