Meet the Rina, a stunning V8-powered speedster that pays homage to the iconic sports cars of the 1960s. With its sleek, carbonfibre body and design elements that evoke the spirit of legendary brands like Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, and Maserati, the Rina is more than just a car; it’s a celebration of Italy’s rich automotive heritage.

What Makes the Rina Stand Out?

At first glance, the Rina captures attention with its striking silhouette. The long bonnet and gracefully curved haunches are reminiscent of classic race cars, while the carbonfibre monocoque structure promises both lightweight agility and structural integrity. This isn’t just a nod to nostalgia; it’s a thoughtful blend of past and present, designed for those who appreciate the thrill of driving.

Inside the cockpit, AM has taken a bold stance by stripping away digital displays, which they deem “superfluous.” Instead, the focus is on the driving experience itself. The rev counter, oil, and temperature dials are positioned directly in front of the driver, ensuring that essential information is always within easy reach. The speedometer, perched high on a carbonfibre spine, adds a touch of modernity while maintaining a classic aesthetic. And for those who take their driving seriously, the inclusion of helmet storage in each doorcard is a clever nod to the racing pedigree of the Rina.

What’s Under the Hood?

Now, let’s talk power. The Rina is equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine, a choice that speaks volumes about AM’s commitment to performance. While the exact supplier of the engine hasn’t been confirmed, the specifications hint at a connection to the Ford Mustang’s Coyote powerplant. With four valves per cylinder and four camshafts, this engine is engineered for efficiency and power.

AM has collaborated with Italtechnica, a firm known for its expertise in high-performance engines, to enhance the V8’s air intake and reduce weight. Although the company hasn’t released specific power and torque figures yet, they’ve hinted at a power-to-weight ratio close to 2 kg per bhp, suggesting an output nearing 500 bhp. This power is channeled to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, ensuring that the driving experience is as engaging as it is exhilarating.

Limited Production with Customization Options

For those dreaming of owning a piece of this automotive artistry, AM plans to produce around 30 examples of the Rina each year at their facility in Piedmont, northern Italy. Each car will be highly customizable, allowing owners to tailor their Rina to their personal tastes. While the price tag remains under wraps, it’s safe to assume that exclusivity comes at a premium.

The Rina isn’t just a car; it’s a statement. It embodies the essence of Italian sports cars from decades past while embracing modern engineering and design. Whether you’re a collector, a racing enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates the finer things in life, the Rina promises an unparalleled driving experience.

What’s the Takeaway?

The big takeaway? The Rina isn’t about perfection—it’s about smarter adjustments. It’s a reminder that the thrill of driving can still be found in a world dominated by technology. Start with one change this week, whether it’s taking a scenic drive or exploring the history of classic cars, and you’ll likely spot the difference in your appreciation for the art of driving by month’s end.

Carbonfibre-bodied speedster harks back to classic Italian racers

Italian company Automobili Mignatta (AM) has unveiled the Rina, a V8-powered tribute to the nation’s sports cars from the 1960s.

It is a speedster based around a carbonfibre monocoque, with curved haunches and a long bonnet headlining a design that echoes contemporary race cars from the likes of Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Maserati.

Its cockpit is devoid of any digital displays – described by AM as “superfluous” – and is designed instead to immerse the occupants in their drive. The rev counter, oil and temperature dials are placed front and centre of the driver, for example, while the speedometer is offset, placed high on a carbonfibre spine that splits the interior into two halves.

In a further hint at the car’s sporting intent, each doorcard features a storage slot for a helmet, in similar fashion to the Lancia Stratos.

Under the bonnet lies a naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8. AM has yet to confirm a supplier, but several of the unit’s specifications – four valves per cylinder, four camshafts and a 92.7mm stroke – suggest it is a derivative of the Ford Mustang’s Coyote powerplant.

This has been breathed on by engineering firm Italtechnica, which was previously responsible for the Kimera Evo37’s 2.1-litre four-pot engine. The changes, AM said, are focused on maximising air intake and reducing weight.

It has yet to disclose power and torque figures, but said the car has a power-to-weight ratio “close to 2 [kg per bhp]” and a weight of around a tonne, suggesting an output close to 500bhp.

This is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential.

AM said it will build around 30 examples of the Rina annually at its base in Piedmont, northern Italy. Each will be offered with extensive customisation – and presumably at great cost, although the company has yet to announce a price.

[2,137

post-63132","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-featured","category-news
["GET
