Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly, to tender his resignation, reported ARY News on Wednesday. The report claims that Naqvi failed to perform well as the Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly, whereas, his controversial statements also created issues for the political party.
GVS spoke to some senior leaders of the ruling party to understand the overall background behind the development. It was learnt that some members of provincial assembly (MPAs) raised complaints against Firdous Shamim Naqvi for the harsh attitude towards them. “The provincial lawmakers conveyed it to the premier that it was no longer possible for them to carry out their responsibilities in the assembly under Naqvi’s leadership,” they said.

GVS also reliably learnt through stories that after receiving multiple complaints, the premier sought an explanation from Naqvi to get his version of the developments. Later on, the opposition leader started contacting lawmakers of his political party to appease them.
Another senior leader of the ruling party in Punjab told GVS that “Imran Khan believes in merit and rule of law, and there can be no place for those not performing”. “Khan is evaluating our performance on daily basis, and those not performing or involved in corrupt practices are not to remain in the office,” he said.
Shamim Naqvi criticized PTI’s government
PTI leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi lashed out at the federal government on Friday, stating that he would ensure Prime Minister Imran Khan, Energy Minister Omar Ayub and prime minister’s assistant on petroleum, Nadeem Babar, felt ‘ashamed’ that Karachi was facing a crisis of gas shortage.
“I am not concerned if it is the PTI’s government [at the Centre] or the PML-N’s,” he said during a press conference. “The gas delivery in this city is not correct. I will keep on creating noise [over the issue]. The prime minister should listen, Omar Ayub should also listen and Nadeem Babar should also listen. I will make sure they feel ashamed and will say to them “Koi sharam hoti hai koi haya hoti hai,” said Naqvi.
Notably, the Sindh government and PTI’s government at the Center have agreed to upgrade Karachi through the Karachi Transformation Plan. On September 16, the government released the notification of its implementation committee. According to the notification, the implementation committee will be headed by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. Sindh chief secretary and representatives of the V Corps of Pakistan Army will also be the part of the committee.
PTI expels leaders over misconduct?
Ajmal Wazir, Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information, was removed from his post. There are reports that the adviser was taking a commission and misusing his position. Wazir was removed from his post over allegations of accepting a commission in a leaked audio recording. An inquiry into the allegations into the leaked audiotape was ordered by the KP chief minister.
Wazir was appointed as the adviser to the chief minister for information earlier this year. Wazir, who belongs to Shakai valley in South Waziristan, had joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf just before the July 2018 general election. He was earlier a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid and had remained its central vice-president.
Similarly, PTI’s MPA in Punjab, Uzma Kardar was expelled from the party for violating party discipline, said a notification issued by the ruling party.
The party’s Standing Committee on Discipline and Accountability has issued a written order which states that Uzma’s basic party membership has been revoked.

“You have acted in a very irresponsible manner and your conduct is unbecoming of a PTI member therefore you have been expelled from the basic membership of the party,” the notice read. “As a consequence, you are also not eligible to hold any post or position at the parliamentary level,” it added. Uzma challenge the decision but it remained unchanged.
