Shoaib Akhtar halts biopic with legal stay order

The biopic aimed to chronicle the remarkable journey of one of the fastest bowlers in the history of cricket and was being directed and produced by Faraz Qaiser, a filmmaker based in Dubai.

Shoaib Akhtar, the renowned former cricketer, has made a significant announcement regarding the stay order on his biopic.

In a surprising twist, he revealed that he had successfully obtained a stay order against the filmmakers behind the project. As a result, the production and release of the biopic have been temporarily halted until a final decision is reached in the ongoing legal case.

Expressing his gratitude, Akhtar stated, “Alhamdolillah, I have secured a stay order against the filming and release of the supposed biopic being made on my life by a certain group of people.” The court’s intervention prevents any further progress on the film, and Akhtar cautioned all individuals involved about the potential legal ramifications of their actions and damage to their reputations.

The controversy surrounding the biopic began when the former cricket star distanced himself from the project, relinquishing all rights to his life story. Akhtar expressed his strong dissatisfaction with the producers, accusing them of violating their agreement by proceeding without seeking his approval on crucial aspects such as the script and casting decisions. This lack of involvement in narrating his own story left him deeply upset, prompting him to take legal action against the producers and director.

The biopic aimed to chronicle the remarkable journey of one of the fastest bowlers in the history of cricket and was being directed and produced by Faraz Qaiser, a filmmaker based in Dubai. Despite Akhtar’s clear disassociation from the project, the producer and director reportedly persisted with its production, leading to threats and legal measures taken by Akhtar to protect his rights.

With the recent issuance of the stay order, the future of the biopic remains uncertain. It now falls upon the courts to determine the project’s fate, while Akhtar hopes for a resolution that respects his rights and allows him the opportunity to have a genuine say in the portrayal of his life’s story.
