Ask me for forgiveness and I’ll forgive: Imran Khan in a message from Adiala Jail

Former PM Imran Khan, in a message from prison, vowed to continue his struggle despite solitary confinement, saying that instead of demanding an apology from him, an apology should be offered to him.

Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has vowed to continue his struggle for what he calls the “true freedom” of the nation, despite being held in solitary confinement and cut off from his family, lawyers, and sources of information.

In a message addressed to the nation, his party workers, and PTI leadership, Khan declared, “Your captain is still standing tall with his head held high. Have no fear.”

Paying tribute to PTI leaders and supporters who staged protests on August 5 and again on Independence Day, Khan condemned what he described as the government’s ongoing “fascism.” He referred to the arrests of PTI workers, as well as convictions handed down by what he called “kangaroo courts” in connection with the May 9, 2023 events.

Khan, who is serving his sentence in prison, said he has been placed under complete isolation. “Meetings with my family and lawyers have been suspended. Every source of information, whether television or newspapers, has been completely blocked,” he stated, adding that his wife Bushra Bibi is also being subjected to similar restrictions.

He further complained that only four of the dozens of books sent by his family have reached him in the past two months, while his access to a personal doctor has been denied.

Despite these conditions, Khan urged his supporters not to lose courage: “We must not, under any circumstances, bow our heads before tyranny and oppression. No matter how long and dark the night may be, dawn is certain to break. The end of this night of oppression is near.”

The PTI founder also expressed grief over the loss of lives in recent flooding across Pakistan, urging the nation to step forward in rescue and relief efforts. “The entire nation must actively participate in helping the victims during this difficult time,” he said.

Khan’s latest message comes amid heightened political tensions and a wave of protests by PTI workers, as well as widespread criticism from the party over his prison conditions and ongoing legal battles.
