Chairman PTA accuses Aimal Wali Khan of smoking ‘hashish’

PTA Chairman Accuses ANP's Aimal Wali Khan of Hashish Use During Senate Committee Clash

The Chairman PTA has accused Aimal Wali Khan, the party leader of ANP, of smoking hashish. The exchange took place during the Functional Committee meeting of the Senate at the Parliament House. The committee was chaired by Senator Agha Shahzaib Durrani to discuss the routine agenda.

Chairman PTA Major General (retd) Hafeez Ur Rehman on Wednesday accused Aimal Wali Khan of drinking charas and hashish before the committee meeting.

Aimal Wali burst out at the PTA head’s accusations. “Who gave you the audacity to speak like this [to me],” he asked. The chairman PTA tried to mollify the situation by apologizing; however, Aimal Wali refused to listen.

“It was a mistake on my part.” However, the Senator did not hold back. “If you use drugs or alcohol, then you make such comments. One should never speak falsely. This must not happen in any meeting. How dare a government employee say to me that I came here after smoking weed?” the Senator shouted.

The PTA Chairman eventually had to leave the session. Talking to reporters outside the National Assembly, Aimal Wali said he will ensure he gets Chairman PTA removed from his post.

“They are government employees, and we are public representatives,” he stressed.

The Senator then took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday night to demand Chairman PTA’s accountability over his remarks. “I will move a privileged motion against General Hafeez-ur-Rehman for slander and stereotyping. It wasn’t merely a personal attack but an affront to the dignity and integrity of the Senate of Pakistan. Such drunk-on-power officials must be held accountable and removed from their positions,” he wrote.

The video of the altercation between Chairman PTA and Aimal Wali Khan went viral on social media. Aimal Wali also talked about the lack of telecom infrastructure in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
