A 39-year-old man has been arrested in Delhi’s Hauz Qazi area for allegedly raping his 65-year-old mother twice, claiming he was “punishing” her for an alleged past relationship.
According to police, the survivor, accompanied by her 25-year-old daughter, filed a complaint at the Hauz Qazi police station. The assaults reportedly occurred soon after the family returned from a religious trip to Saudi Arabia.

The woman lives with her husband, a retired government employee, the accused son, and her younger daughter. Her elder daughter is married and resides nearby with her in-laws.
The complaint states that on July 17, the woman, her husband, and younger daughter travelled to Saudi Arabia. During this period, the accused allegedly called his father, pressuring him to return to Delhi and demanding a divorce from his mother, while accusing her of past “illicit relationships.”
After the family’s return on August 1, the accused allegedly locked his mother in a room, forced her to remove her burqa, beat her, and accused her of having “spoiled” him during childhood. Following this incident, the woman temporarily took refuge at her elder daughter’s house.

She returned home on August 11, but the abuse allegedly continued. That night, around 9:30 pm, the accused asked to speak to her privately, locked her in a room, and raped her, saying it was punishment for her “past relationships.” On August 14, at about 3:30 am, he allegedly raped her again.
The next day, the woman confided in her younger daughter, who urged her to approach the police. The two then went to the Hauz Qazi police station and submitted a written complaint. Based on this, a case was registered under Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused has since been arrested, and further investigation is ongoing.
