The latest batch of Jeffrey Epstein-related documents released by the U.S. Justice Department on January 30 has reignited global controversy, once again drawing attention to the late financier’s extensive network of powerful and influential figures.
The newly unsealed files reference several high-profile personalities, including former U.S. President Donald Trump, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, alongside politicians, celebrities, and intellectuals.
Epstein files reveal that Zohran Mamdani’s mother, filmmaker Mira Nair, attended a party at Ghislaine Maxwell’s townhouse in 2009 alongside Bill Clinton and Jeff Bezos.

Among the new names appearing in the documents is acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair, who is also the mother of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. According to the files, Nair attended a 2009 afterparty hosted by Ghislaine Maxwell—Epstein’s longtime associate and a convicted sex trafficker—at her New York townhouse following the premiere of Nair’s film Amelia.
Details of the gathering emerged through an email sent on October 21, 2009, by publicist Peggy Siegel. In the message, Siegel wrote that she had “just left Ghislaine’s townhouse” after the film’s afterparty, noting the presence of former President Bill Clinton and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, along with other notable guests from the film and cultural world. The email also described the reception of Amelia as “tepid,” although it suggested the film resonated more positively with women attendees.
The appearance of Nair’s name has attracted attention largely due to her familial connection to New York City’s mayor, though the documents do not allege wrongdoing on her part. Legal experts have repeatedly stressed that inclusion in Epstein-related files does not imply criminal activity and, in many cases, reflects social or professional contact rather than involvement in illegal acts.
Beyond Nair, the documents reference a wide array of prominent figures, including former U.S. Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, ex-New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, Britain’s Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, as well as entertainers such as Michael Jackson, Kevin Spacey, Mick Jagger, Diana Ross, and filmmaker Woody Allen. Intellectuals Noam Chomsky and the late Stephen Hawking are also mentioned.
The release is part of an ongoing effort to increase transparency around Epstein’s connections. While public scrutiny has intensified, authorities have not indicated whether any new legal actions will follow from the latest disclosures.
