Former army chief Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa was admitted to the ICU after suffering a head injury from a fall at his home early Tuesday morning, family sources said.

According to the sources, Bajwa slipped in the bathroom around 4:30am and sustained head injuries. He is currently receiving treatment in intensive care.

Gen (retd) Qamar Bajwa served as Chief of Army Staff from 2016 until his retirement on November 29, 2022.
Before becoming COAS, he was posted at General Headquarters (GHQ) as Inspector General of Training and Evaluation. Earlier in his career, he held important roles in 10 Corps as a lieutenant colonel, serving as a General Staff Officer (GSO).

He also commanded a brigade during a United Nations mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo and later served as Commandant of the Infantry School in Quetta.
Gen (retd) Bajwa is from the Baloch Regiment, which has produced three army chiefs: Gen Yahya Khan, Gen Mirza Aslam Beg, and Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
