Field Marshal Asim Munir Slams India’s Proxy War Tactics Post-Marka-e-Haq Defeat

Field Marshal Asim Munir has accused India of escalating its proxy war against Pakistan following its defeat in the 19-day conflict, "Marka-e-Haq." He reaffirmed the Pakistan Army's commitment to eradicating terrorism and promoting Balochistan’s development as vital for national unity.

Field Marshal Asim Munir has stated that India intensified its proxy war against Pakistan after suffering a defeat in “Marka-e-Haq” — the 19-day military conflict that took place from April 22 to May 10, according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.

While addressing participants of the 16th National Workshop in Balochistan, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) strongly condemned India’s open support of terror proxies, calling it a failed effort to undermine the deep-rooted patriotism of the people of Balochistan. He emphasized that India’s use of proxies — aimed at advancing malicious agendas such as Fitna-al-Khawarij and Fitna-al-Hindustan — is part of a broader hybrid war against Pakistan. Munir asserted that these proxies would meet the same disgraceful end as in Marka-e-Haq.

Speaking to a diverse audience comprising parliamentarians, civil society members, civil servants, academics, media personnel, and youth, the army chief stressed that terrorism transcends religious, sectarian, and ethnic lines, calling for a united national response. He highlighted the need for collective resolve to combat this threat.

Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s firm commitment to eradicating terrorism and emphasized the importance of Balochistan’s socio-economic development for national unity and integration. He reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to regional peace and its readiness to respond firmly to any internal or external threats, ensuring national dignity and the safety of its citizens.

He also underscored the crucial role of development efforts in Balochistan, advocating for stronger inter-agency coordination and a unified national strategy to drive both provincial and national progress.

His statements came just days after the 271st Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC), led by Field Marshal Munir, where Pakistan Army’s top leadership pledged comprehensive and decisive actions against Indian-sponsored proxies.

During the meeting, the commanders took note of unfounded accusations by the Indian Army, seen as attempts to distract from their defeat in Marka-e-Haq. These sentiments mirrored those of ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, who recently told Al Jazeera that India is behaving like a regional “bully,” supporting terror cells and conducting cross-border assassinations within Pakistan.

Lt Gen Chaudhry also highlighted credible evidence pointing to the involvement of Indian intelligence operatives in orchestrating targeted killings inside Pakistan through criminal networks.
