Several people were reported to have drowned in the Swat River following flash floods on Friday morning. The bodies of four deceased have been recovered so far, according to rescue officials. KP Rescue Service 111 Director General Shah Fahad said that the bodies of three people have been recovered yet.
“The rescue operation is being conducted at five different locations, and 80 personnel of Rescue 1122 are participating in the search operation,” said Fahad.
“Two dead bodies so far recovered, and the operation continues for others, but high-level flood is hampering the operation,” Khan had said.
“The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a threat alert regarding Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) in five districts, including Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper Swat, and Upper Kohistan.

After heavy rain, a torrent in the Swat River swept away 18 people. According to rescue authorities, the bodies of five individuals have been recovered, three people were rescued alive, while the search for the remaining individuals continues. According to a media report, they were having breakfast when the water flow intensified, and the torrent swept away 18 members of a single family.
Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority on Thursday issued a rain and flood alert for multiple regions in the country from June 26 to June 28. It warned local authorities to ensure preemptive measures are in place, with the monsoon season expected to trigger heavy downpours in the coming days.

The Meteorological Department forecast on Monday that several parts of the country are expected to receive heavy monsoon rains from June 25 onwards. It urged the masses to take precautionary measures against the resulting flash floods and landslides in the low-lying and hilly areas. Rains have also lashed Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province over the last 24 hours.
