Pakistan has strongly condemned the interception of the aid workers, and the Foreign Office of Pakistan and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif have issued strong statements condemning the Israeli forces’ interception of the Global Samud Flotilla and the prevention of humanitarian aid from reaching Gaza. Pakistan, in its official statement, has called it a violation of international law and humanitarian principles.
Moreover, they have also demanded the immediate release of former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed, an all-detained activist. The government has even called on the international community and the United Nations to hold Israel accountable for this action. Pakistan has expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people while strongly condemning Israel’s
actions.
Pakistan condemns Israel
Foreign Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar said: “Pakistan strongly condemns Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla and detention of international activists in flagrant violation of international law. We demand an immediate ceasefire, lifting of the blockade, swift release of activists, and unhindered aid to Gaza. Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their quest for an independent, sovereign State based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.”
“Pakistan strongly condemns the dastardly attack by Israeli forces on the 40-vessel Samud Gaza flotilla, carrying over 450 humanitarian workers from 44 countries. We hope and pray for the safety of all those who have been illegally apprehended by Israeli forces and call for their immediate release. Their crime was to carry aid for the hapless Palestinian people. This barbarity must end. Peace must be given a chance and humanitarian aid must reach those in need,” said PM Shehbaz Sharif in his tweet.
Citizens are demanding that the government take immediate action to rescue the five-member Pakistani delegation on board the Gaza Sumud Flotilla.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office also released a lengthy statement condemning the interception of the humanitarian aid vessels.
“Pakistan reiterates its call for an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire across all Occupied Palestinian Territories; the lifting of the illegal blockade of Gaza; unfettered access and provision of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people; immediate release of all humanitarian workers and activists onboard the flotilla; full respect for international law, including international humanitarian law and human rights law; and accountability for Israel’s repeated violations of international law.”
