Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau have officially gone public with their relationship on Instagram after the singer shared a close-up selfie of the two smiling together, along with a video of them enjoying sushi in Japan.

Her post — a photo carousel from her recent trip to Tokyo, shared on Saturday with her 202 million followers — appeared to confirm the long-rumoured romance between the pop star and the former Canadian prime minister. She captioned it, “tokyo times on tour and more,” accompanied by a smiling emoji, flowers, and a red heart.
The confirmation comes shortly after Trudeau reposted a picture on X on Thursday, showing him and Perry with former Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko. “Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko,” he wrote.
Fans reacted quickly to the couple’s “hard launch,” with one Instagram user exclaiming, “OH CANADA!!! MAKING IT OFFICIAL!!!” Another wrote, “Your happiness is our happiness. All the love to you! 🥹❤️”
Although neither Perry nor Trudeau has directly addressed their relationship publicly, the Instagram post caps months of speculation. The pair were first spotted having dinner in Montreal in July, followed by Trudeau enthusiastically singing along to “Firework” at Perry’s concert two days later. Their first public outing came in October, when they were photographed holding hands after a cabaret show in Paris celebrating Perry’s 41st birthday.
Trudeau served as Canada’s prime minister from 2015 to 2025 before stepping down earlier this year. Perry, a 13-time Grammy nominee, has released seven studio albums and is known for hits like “California Gurls,” “Hot n Cold,” and “Roar.”
