Approximately nine gunshots were fired at Kap’s Café, a recently opened establishment in Surrey, Canada, owned by renowned TV personality and comedian Kapil Sharma.
According to reports, the shooting occurred on Wednesday night, though fortunately, no injuries were reported. Khalistani terrorist Harjit Singh Laddi has claimed responsibility for the incident, which took place just days after the café’s inauguration. It is believed that Laddi ordered the attack in response to a past statement made by Sharma, although no official confirmation has been provided regarding the motive.

Laddi is also reportedly wanted by India’s National Investigation Agency in connection with the April 2024 murder of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Prabhakar, also known as Vikas Bagga.
In the official statement shared on Instagram story, The Kap’s Cafe team wrote, “We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock, but we are not giving up.”

It further read, “Thank you for Your Support. Your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM mean more than you know. This cafe exists because of your belief in what we’re building together. Let’s stand firm against violence and ensure Kap’s Cafe remains a place of warmth and community.”
The Kap’s Cafe team also thanked the local police for their promt action. They shared another note on Instagram, which reads, “We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the @surreypolice and @deltapd for their prompt response and efforts in ensuring everyone’s safety during this difficult time.”
