The Supreme Court of Pakistan Thursday has instructed the Government of Pakistan that PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan should be given access to his personal physicians in Adiala Jail, also allowed to establish his contact with his sons Qasim and Sulaiman.
A two-member bench comprising of Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan heard the case. Chief Justice Yahya Afridi summoned Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan to the rostrum and reviewed the report submitted to the court during the hearing.
PTI leaders Senator Faisal Javed, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Salman Akram Raja and Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan were also present during the court proceedings. The reports of the friend of the court Barrister Salman Safdar and the jail superintendent are identical, observed Chief Justice, directing the Attorney General to read the paragraph No. 21 of the report.
According to the report submitted by Barrister Safdar, Imran Khan has expressed satisfaction with the protective and security arrangements in the jail. However, he described the medical facilities provided to him as unsatisfactory. The Supreme Court in its brief order has instructed the government to ensure the proper inspection of Imran Khan’s health including his eye and the phone calls be conducted before February 16, Monday.

However, the bench dismissed the request to have the condition of Imran Khan’s eye after he underwent a medical procedure in January 24 at PIMS Hospital, Islamabad, examined in the presence of his family members. The issue of Imran Khan’s health is the most important, noted Yaya Afridi, adding that the intervention was necessary.
He said that he wanted the Supreme Court wants to know the government’s stance on the matter of Imran Khan’s health, at which Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan affirmed that it was the state’s responsibility to provide medical facilities.
If the prisoner is not satisfied, then the state will take measures, says the AGP Awan. CGP Afridi then noted that the issue of Imran Khan’s telephone calls with his children is also important. SC had received reports on the PTI counsel advocates Salman Sadfar and the Adiala jail superintendent, the Chief Justice said. Most of the things in both reports are similar. The place is good.
The facilities are fine. Noting that the issue of Imran Khan’s meeting with his family members was pending before the Islamabad High Court, Justice Afridi said it would be appropriate for the relevant forum to decide on that.

Advocate Safdar was appointed to meet Imran Khan in the Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail on Tuesday and had submitted a seven-page report to the SC regarding the Imran Khan’s living conditions and his concurrent health issues in the prison.
The report talks about his meeting with Imran Khan, the cell conditions, the facilities and the amenities provided as well as the lawyer’s process of reaching the jail. Safdar in his report has quoted that despite the treatment administered, including an injection, Imran Khan has only left with 15% vision in his right eye.
Imran Khan told Safdar approximately three to four months earlier, that is in October 2025, he had normal six by six vision in both his eyes. He then began experiencing persistent blurred and hazy vision, which he repeatedly complained to the then jail superintendent, but no action was taken by the jail authorities.
The report read: “[Imran] stated that he subsequently suffered a sudden and complete loss of vision in his right eye, following which an ophthalmologist from Pims Hospital, Dr Muhammad Arif, was called to examine him.
“According to [Imran], he was diagnosed with a blood clot that caused severe damage, and despite the treatment administered (including an injection), he has been left with only 15 per cent vision in his right eye.”
A day ago, following his meeting with the Imran Khan, Safdar denied making any statements on Imran Khan’s health on Tuesday, making it clear that if anything was attributed to him in this regard, it was misrepresented and misreported. On Tuesday Salman Safdar met Imran Khan for more than three hours in Adiala jail.
