Kh Asif bombshell on bureaucrats buying Portugal properties sparks uproar

Top bureaucrats accused of looting billions and securing foreign assets now face public fury. Citizens demand action, reminding Khawaja Asif that his government holds the power to prosecute.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif accused the top bureaucrats of Pakistan of having already acquired properties in Portugal and is preparing to obtain citizenship as well.

He said that these are well-known bureaucrats. Khawaja Asif made an explosive statement in a tweet on Tuesday night.

He accused bureaucrats of stealing billions of rupees and then comfortably living a retired life in Portugal. Giving a one-stance, he said that the former CM Usman Buzdar’s closest bureaucrats had collected 4 billion rupees as a wedding gift for his daughter’s wedding. Politicians, on the other hand, gobble up the leftovers and make a fuss with neither plots nor foreign citizenship because they have to contest elections in Pakistan. He accused the current bureaucratic setup of Pakistan is polluting the sacred land of Pakistan.

“More than half of the bureaucracy of our dear homeland has already acquired property in Portugal and is preparing to obtain citizenship. These are well-known bureaucrats. Yet, after devouring billions of rupees, they are comfortably living a retired life.”

“One of Buzdar’s closest bureaucrats has collected four billion rupees just in salami for his daughters’ weddings and is now calmly enjoying a retired life. Politicians, on the other hand, gobble up the leftovers and make a fuss, with neither plots nor foreign citizenship, because they have to contest elections. This bureaucracy is polluting the sacred land of Pakistan,” he said in a tweet on X.

His revelation has caused a ruckus among the Pakistani public as they unanimously ask about what decisions the government is taking to take action against these bureaucrats involved in buying and purchasing properties abroad and acquiring citizenship.

The revelation has caused widespread public outrage, especially online, where users have demanded accountability. Many reminded Khawaja Asif that he and his government hold the power to act against these officials. The public now asks: Will words turn into action, or is this another episode of selective outrage?
