Man Arrested for Attempted Murder of Iranian Refugee Toddler at Moscow Airport

The 18-month-old boy, originally from Iran, was thrown head-first onto the concrete floor, leaving him in a coma with critical injuries.

A tragic incident at Moscow’s international airport has shocked many after a Belarusian man violently assaulted a toddler. The 18-month-old boy, originally from Iran, was thrown head-first onto the concrete floor, leaving him in a coma with critical injuries. The disturbing footage of the unprovoked attack has gone viral on social media.

According to reports, the child and his pregnant mother had recently arrived in Russia, fleeing the ongoing conflict triggered by Israel’s strikes on Iran. At the time of the attack, the boy had momentarily been separated from his mother, who was retrieving his pushchair after their flight.

Security footage captured the suspect, 31-year-old Vladimir Vitkov from Belarus, approaching the toddler before suddenly grabbing and slamming him onto the floor. The child sustained severe skull fractures and spinal injuries and is currently in a coma, fighting for his life.

Vitkov was promptly arrested by Russian police. Authorities later revealed that toxicology tests showed cannabis and other drugs in his system. While a clear motive has yet to be disclosed, investigators suspect drug-induced behavior played a key role in the assault.

Israel-Iran Conflict

The child’s family was reportedly fleeing the recent 12-day war between Israel and Iran. The conflict began after Israel launched strikes on Tehran’s nuclear facilities in a bid to halt its alleged weapons development.

The hostilities saw both countries exchanging missile attacks, resulting in numerous casualties. The United States also intervened, reportedly destroying three Iranian nuclear sites. A ceasefire agreement between the three nations was announced on Tuesday.
