Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Attacks Kabul killing TTP Leader when Afghan FM is in Delhi

Multiple Afghan cities hit in overnight air raids as tensions rise between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has hit several locations in Kabul, Afghanistan, in the overnight aerial strikes on Friday night. The strikes are said to be conducted on the TTP hideouts, also eliminating high-profile target Noor Wali Mehsud.

The airstrikes followed a week of intense terrorist attacks in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, which claimed the lives of 12 Pakistani soldiers. The social media reports suggest that Pakistan had allegedly targeted the high-profile TTP leader, Chief Noor Wali Mehsud. The initial reports suggest that the initial aerial strike hit a moving car in Kabul.

Local sources confirmed that around midnight on Thursday-Friday, jet fighters allegedly of the Pakistan Air Force carried out a strike on Marga Bazaar in the Bermal district of Paktika province. The strikes reportedly caused no human casualties; however, 10 shops were destroyed, and several of the buildings caught fire during the strikes.

Media reports also suggest that four other Afghan cities were targeted in the multiple overnight airstrikes, including Kabul, Paktika, Khost, and Jalalabad. F-16 fighter jets armed with precision-guided munitions were used in these surgical operations against TTP. However, there are conflicting reports on the death of Noor Wali Mehsud. The local Pakistani reports and several social media reports are claiming that Noor Wali Mehsud has been eliminated, while many of the reporters from Afghanistan are cautious in supporting such claims. As per various reports, Noor Wali Mehsud released a voice note confirming the date confirmed that he is alive.

The incident is part of the potentially significant escalations in cross-border tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, and when the Afghan Taliban’s interim foreign minister is already on a week-long visit to India. Their strikes have followed several previous attacks on Pakistan’s armed forces and failed diplomatic protests urging the Afghan Taliban to end the TTP militant sanctuaries on Afghanistan’s soil.
