Pakistan on Friday condemned what it termed as “unjustified and illegitimate” military aggression by Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In an official statement, the Foreign Office said the Israeli strikes violated Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, in clear breach of the UN Charter and fundamental principles of international law. “Iran reserves the right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter,” the statement emphasized.
Israel launched extensive airstrikes on Iran early Friday, claiming to have targeted nuclear sites, ballistic missile production facilities, and military leadership. Israeli officials described the assault as the beginning of a sustained campaign to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Iranian media outlets and eyewitnesses reported explosions, including at the key uranium enrichment site in Natanz. Israel, meanwhile, declared a state of emergency in preparation for potential retaliatory missile and drone attacks.
Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards Corps confirmed that its top commander, Hossein Salami, had been killed, while state media reported that the force’s headquarters in Tehran was also struck. Reports indicated that several children lost their lives in a separate strike on a residential district in the capital.
Responding to these developments, Pakistan reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with the Iranian people and categorically denounced what it described as blatant provocations, warning that such actions pose a grave threat to the peace, security, and stability of the region and beyond.

“The international community and the United Nations bear the responsibility to uphold international law, halt this aggression immediately, and hold the aggressor accountable,” the Foreign Office stressed.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his heartfelt condolences to the Iranian nation over the tragic loss of lives. He condemned Israel’s unprovoked assault, calling it a “grave and highly irresponsible act” that risks further destabilizing an already volatile region. The premier urged the global community and the UN to take immediate measures to prevent any escalation that could jeopardize both regional and international peace.
Echoing this stance, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also condemned the “unjustified Israeli attacks,” labeling them as a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty.
“This abhorrent act has shaken the foundations of international law and the conscience of humanity, gravely undermining regional stability and global security,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter), reiterating Pakistan’s support for the Iranian government and people.
Similarly, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari also “strongly condemned Israel’s unprovoked assault on Iran,” joining the chorus of national leaders denouncing the escalation.
