Pakistan and UAE on Tuesday agreed to sign a formal agreement on making pre-arrangement immigration clearance system for Pakistani nationals visit upon their arrival in UAE. This the development was shared in a statement released by the Ministry of Interior of Pakistan. The agreement, when signed, will enable Pakistani nationals to skip the lengthy immigration processes upon arrival in the United Arab Emirates.
The decision was reached in a meeting held between Interior Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a delegation that arrived from the UAE led by the Director General of Customs and Port Security, Ahmed bin Lahej Al Falasi.
“The immigration process for the passengers will be completed in Pakistan before travel,” Naqvi was quoted as saying.
“They will be able to exit the airport directly like domestic passengers,” said Naqvi. Initially the, system will be launched as a pilot project at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. The Interior Minister did not mention the date of the commencement of this project.

Naqvi voiced optimism that the new system will “facilitate travel and improve the overall travel experience”.
The delegation from the UAE are front to cooperate during the implementation of the initiative, labeling it as beneficial for both countries.
“Relevant authorities will coordinate with each other to finalise the administrative and technical aspects of the pilot project,” the statement read.
The development comes amid the increasing difficulties faced by Pakistani nationals in obtaining UAE visas. In November 2025, the additional Interior Secretary Salman Chaudhry said that the UAE had not been issuing visas to Pakistanis.
The Additional Secretary made this revelation during a meeting of the Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights, further stating that Saudi Arabia and the UAE had stopped short of imposing a ban on the Pakistani passport. Pakistani citizens were also facing visa rejections in early July last year, which prompted Mohsin Naqvi to raise the issue with the UAE authorities.
