Pakistani Tourists Can Now Use UK e-Visa, No More Passport Stickers

Pakistani nationals can now apply for UK e-visas, receiving confirmation by email instead of traditional passport stickers. The system allows applicants to keep their passports after biometrics and use a share code to prove visa status, while existing visa rules and processing times remain unchanged.

In a significant move to simplify visa procedures, Pakistani nationals travelling to the United Kingdom, including tourists, can now use a new e-visa system, receiving confirmation via email instead of traditional passport stickers, the British High Commission in Islamabad announced on Wednesday.

“Visitors will still submit their applications online and visit a visa application centre to provide biometrics,” the statement said, noting that successful applicants will now receive a digital record of their immigration status through an eVisa, accessible via a UK Visas and Immigration online account.

“Applicants no longer need to return to the visa centre to collect their passport; they can retain it after their biometrics appointment,” the statement added.

The e-visa system also offers a more secure way to manage immigration status and reduces the risk of lost or damaged documents.

“Applicants can generate a share code to prove their visa status at borders and elsewhere. There are no changes to visa processing times, eligibility criteria, or visa conditions,” the statement clarified.

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott described the change as “a hugely exciting step for Pakistanis visiting the UK for tourism, visiting family, or business meetings, removing a major step from the application process.”

She added, “Holding on to your passport saves time, and the new share code system makes it easier than ever to demonstrate visa status.”

The e-visa system was previously rolled out for students and work visa holders, with thousands worldwide already using it at UK airports. Current sticker visas remain valid and are unaffected by the new system.
