Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced it to start direct flights between Lahore and Paris.
The flights have resumed following the lift-off ban by the European Aviation Safety Agency on PIA after five years.
Following the ban lift on PIA by the EASA in November last year, the national flag carrier resumed Islamabad-Paris flights early this year. “We can operate for any destination in Europe now (except the UK) after the lifting of the ban by the EASA. However, it depends upon traffic on specific routes in Europe,” a senior official of PIA told Dawn.
A senior official from PIA says the airline is hopeful of resuming the direct flights to the UK in a couple of months.
“Talks with the UK authorities concerned are underway, and hopefully the PIA will be operating flights there in a couple of months,” said an official.
On Wednesday, the first weekly flight from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport operated to Paris.

“A Boeing 777 aircraft was deployed for this route, featuring a newly refurbished cabin interior designed to enhance passenger comfort,” a PIA spokesperson said, and added that to mark the occasion, a ceremony was held at Allama Iqbal International Airport.
Passengers were seen off by the Chief Executive Officer of PIA, Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat.
Chief Operating Officer Huzam Mushtaq and Head of Mission of the French Embassy. Frank Aubrey was also present at the occasion.
“This flight will further boost aviation, tourism, trade, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries,” read a statement from the official.
Mr Aubry expressed hope for deeper ties between Pakistan and France through this new air link.
“PIA is proud to announce the launch of direct flights between Paris and Lahore. Experience the warmth of Pakistani hospitality with the quickest travel times!,” read the post shared by PIA on the X account.
