Set in Karachi’s Lyari, Dhurandhar Rakes in Rs. 100 Crore in Just 3 Days

Aditya Dhar’s latest film, Dhurandhar, starring Ranbir Singh and Akshay Khanna, has opened to a spectacular response at the box office.

The current earnings of the movie stand between Rs 40 to Rs 42 crores on Sunday. The three-day collection of the movie stands at rupees 100 crores. The movie is performing strongly across cinemas in India.

Analysts believe the film is expected to enter the Rs 200-300 crore club, possibly making it the biggest hit of Ranveer Singh’s entire career.

The film marks the return of Director Aditya Dhar to the screen after six years. The movie stars Ranveer Singh as Hamza Ali Mazari, who has infiltrated the Pakistani criminal gang operating in Karachi under Operation Dhurandhar.

Akshay Khanna plays the character of  Rahman Dakait, a popular warlord in Karachi, Pakistan. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, who is playing the ISI chief Major Iqbal, and Madhavan, who is playing the character of  Ajay Sanyal. Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt plays the character of martyred Pakistani police officer SP Chaudhary Aslam, and Rakesh Bedi plays the character of Jamil Jamali.

The film, according to the insiders, has released its first part on December 5, 2025, and the next part is slated to release in March 2026. The story begins with the Kandahar hijack in 1999 and the Parliament attack in 2001.

The film is a mix of a spy thriller and gangster saga set in Lyari, one of the densely populated neighborhoods of Karachi. The storyline depicts complex relations between spies and mafia dynamics. The events unfolding in the movie refer to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and fake currency smuggling via Nepal.

The runtime of the movie is 3.5 hours, making it the longest since the movie Jodha Akbar. Ranveer Singh and Akshay Khanna are being praised for the powerful delivery of their characters. The movie also explores the relationship between Pakistan’s political party and the criminal gangsters in Karachi.
