Shaken, Not Stirred: Pakistan’s Asia Cup Loss to India Fuels Online Outrage

India’s commanding seven-wicket win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 was overshadowed by political tensions and a controversial handshake snub. The defeat left Pakistani fans heartbroken, with social media flooded by anger, disappointment, and sharp criticism of the team’s performance.

India cruised to a dominant seven-wicket win over Pakistan in their high-stakes Asia Cup 2025 clash in Dubai on Sunday.

The fixture had already been marred by calls from across the border to boycott the contest, and tensions spilled onto the field when the Indian team broke with tradition by refusing to shake hands both at the toss and after the match.

At the post-match ceremony, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav added fuel to the fire by invoking the April Pahalgam terror attack in Indian-administered Kashmir — which triggered a four-day military confrontation between the two nations in May — calling the victory “a perfect gift” for his country.

“We stand with the families of the Pahalgam victims, we express our solidarity, and we dedicate this win to the armed forces,” Yadav said. Speaking later at the press conference, he added: “Our government and the BCCI were aligned. We came here just to play the game and gave them [Pakistan] a proper reply.”

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha skipped the post-match ceremony altogether in protest. Meanwhile, the defeat left fans back home dejected, with many social media users expressing anger and disappointment at Pakistan’s performance as well as the controversial end to the match.
