Shoaib Akhtar Slams PCB Leadership After India Defeat, Calls Chairman ‘Incompetent’

Former stars including Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Yousuf question PCB leadership and political influence after Pakistan’s 61-run loss to India.

Former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has indirectly taken jibes at Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi in a talk show on Indian television. Without naming him, Shoaib Akhtar questioned the authority leading the Pakistan Cricket Board these days. Shoaib Akhtar criticized the abysmal performance of Pakistan cricket team.

He said that the person who doesn’t know anything about cricket is leading the Pakistan Cricket Board these days. He said that you have made a superstar that people have made superstar of a player who cannot win Pakistan a game, taking a jibe at Babar Azam.

India registered a 61 runs victory over Pakistan in a T20 World Cup match on Sunday in Sri Lanka. He described the current authorities leading the cricket board as unfit for their roles.

He criticised the PCB leadership, saying, “One guy who does not know anything has become the Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman. What can you do? How will the team run?”

Akhtar added that poor appointments are a major problem, calling it “The biggest crime in the world is to give a particular job to incompetent people.” He even described Naqvi as ‘incompetent and illiterate’.

Shoaib Akhtar claims the present-day Pakistan Cricket Team does not meet the requirements of modern day cricket.

Following him, former cricketer Muhammad Yousuf also criticized Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and asked for the removal of political pressure and appointments in the board.

“Unless we remove political influence and personal agendas from Pakistan cricket, we cannot return to the team we once were. This is the darkest period in our cricketing history, and my heart bleeds for it. Incompetent individuals must be removed from office and from the team,” said the cricketer in his tweet on X.

Meanwhile. Shahid Afridi has called for the removal Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam and Shadab Khan from the team and has urged to give the chance to the new players.
