Leaders and lawmakers from around the world, including the United States, have acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic role in helping secure a two-week ceasefire between Washington and Tehran, finalised just hours before President Donald Trump’s stated deadline.
In a post on his platform, Social Truth, Trump said he agreed to the temporary ceasefire with Iran following discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Asim Munir.

The announcement marked a dramatic shift from earlier in the day, when Trump had issued a stark warning that “a whole civilisation will die tonight” if his demands were not met, setting an 8pm ET deadline for April 8.
Soon after, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed on X that Iran, the United States, and their respective allies had agreed to an immediate ceasefire across all fronts, including Lebanon and other affected regions.
