The Nevs Emily GT: Electric Saloon Could Enter Production Soon

The Nevs Emily GT, an electric saloon developed by former Saab engineers in Sweden, may soon enter production. The project was saved from financial difficulties by Canadian start-up EV Electra, and its CEO, Jihad Mohammad, recently announced that they have purchased a factory in Italy where they plan to build electric cars. While details are still limited, Mohammad has hinted at multiple acquisitions that will allow EV Electra to be at the forefront of the electric car game. It is unclear whether the production cars will be the Emily GTs or EV Electra’s own models.

In addition to the Emily GT, EV Electra has also been working on the Nostrum supercar, previously known as the Quds. Mohammad stated that they will begin choosing dealers next week and plan to announce them in May. Show cars will be available in June, with delivery to customers starting in August 2024.

Although Mohammad initially expressed interest in producing cars at Saab’s old home in Trollhättan, it seems that a deal could not be reached with the factory’s new owner, Stenhaga Invest. Mohammad has also hinted at potential business ventures in China.

The acquisition of Nevs by EV Electra was seen as a realization of shared dreams and a profound moment by both companies. EV Electra plans to assemble its first cars at a factory in Turkey and believes that Trollhättan has the personnel to make their visions come true.

The Nevs Emily GT is a four-door, five-seat electric car that competes with the Mercedes-Benz EQS and Tesla Model S. It boasts a range of over 621 miles thanks to its large 175kWh battery. The prototypes used a 52kWh battery from the Nevs 9-3, an electric conversion of the Saab 9-3. The car features in-wheel motors that provide a total power output of 484bhp and allow for precise torque vectoring. An air suspension system with active dampers helps maintain ride quality.

The Emily GT’s striking styling, reminiscent of the final Saab 9-3 and 9-5, was designed by an unnamed Italian and refined by former Saab designers. The project is about a year and a half away from completion, according to Peter Dahl, the program director and former Saab engineer.

Overall, the Nevs Emily GT’s potential entry into production under EV Electra’s ownership is an exciting development in the electric car market. With its impressive range and unique design features, it has the potential to be a strong competitor in the luxury electric car segment.
