Uzma Bukhari apologizes for indecent remarks on women

Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari apologized for her controversial remarks on women’s clothing, admitting they were made in frustration. She explained her comments came in reaction to criticism of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s dressing.

Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari admitted to her mistake over inappropriate remarks regarding women’s clothing in her press conference on Wednesday. Recently, Uzman Bukhari spoke about women’s clothing during a press conference. She directly targeted the females of their opponents. Her statement had stirred a strong reaction on social media.

Bukhari admitted that she had passed these comments in frustration, reacting to criticism of Maryam Nawaz’s clothing. She further added that the minister added that she should have shown restraint and patience when addressing the criticism of Maryam Nawaz’s dressing.

Uzma Bukhari said, “I am also someone’s mother, but the trolling we have to endure from head to toe is a patience that sometimes runs out.”

He said, “The (PML-N) has a regular campaign against women. The words used on Maryam Nawaz’s clothes and against her are very wrong.”

He added, “Just now Maryam Nawaz boarded a boat and went on a tour of Shahdara. People trolled her and launched a campaign. What is Maryam Nawaz doing for Punjab, and what has she done so far? Why is it not discussed? It is always important to discuss women’s clothes.”

Targeting the critics, she said that people who talk about the clothes and Maryam Nawaz are those whose mothers don’t even consider wearing clothes. She made the statement during a press conference on Wednesday.

From her clothes to the strength of the visiting delegation, and the money spent on the promotion of her five-day trip to Japan, is under strict scrutiny on social media.

Bukhari said that they don’t take the trolling seriously; however, they laugh at their critics for discussing trivial matters, such as their clothes and accessories, instead of focusing on their work.

“If Maryam Nawaz is wearing shoes without taking a salary, then what’s the problem for your father? No matter how much trolling you do, it doesn’t make the slightest difference to Maryam Nawaz’s shoes. We are just laughing, making fun of them, that’s what work these are being used for,” said Information Minister Uzma Bukhari.
