Uzma Bukhari, the serving Information Minister of Punjab, slammed the opponents for criticism of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz during her recent visit to Japan. Targeting the critics, she said that people who talk about the clothes and Maryam Nawaz are those whose mothers don’t even consider wearing clothes. She made the statement during a press conference on Wednesday.
From her clothes to the strength of the visiting delegation, and the money spent on the promotion of her five-day trip to Japan, is under strict scrutiny on social media.
Bukhari said that they don’t take the trolling seriously; however, they laugh at their critics for discussing trivial matters, such as their clothes and accessories, instead of focusing on their work.
“If Maryam Nawaz is wearing shoes without taking a salary, then what’s the problem for your father? No matter how much trolling you do, it doesn’t make the slightest difference to Maryam Nawaz’s shoes. We are just laughing, making fun of them, that’s what work these are being used for,” said Information Minister Uzma Bukhari.
Maryam Nawaz’s trip to Japan, however, has come under strict scrutiny from citizens, social media users, and political commentators. Questions are being raised over the inclusion of private individuals in the delegation, which critics allege placed a heavy burden on the national exchequer.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari, who was also part of the CM delegation to Japan, rejected a list of the ‘participants’ of the CM’s visit circulating on social media, calling it “a pack of lies“.
“For the first time, a woman CM made a ‘historic’ visit to Japan, and the malicious campaign against this milestone is nothing short of a shameful act of hostility against the country’s progress. The individuals (the Sharif family members and their friends) mentioned in the social media list were not part of the ‘official government delegation’. Only officially nominated delegates had their expenses covered by the government, while all others covered their own costs privately,” she said while addressing a deluge of criticism on social media.
“The opposition PTI has nothing to offer except falsehood and propaganda. Just like in the past, it will continue to consume in its own frustration,” she added.
