Vlogger Taken Into Custody After Recording High-Profile Transfer of Imran Khan to PIMS

A YouTuber was detained after filming the convoy of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan during his transfer from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences to prison.

Law enforcement officials reportedly detained a social media activist after he filmed the movement of incarcerated Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), while the former prime minister was being transported between a hospital and prison, according to The News.

Sources said on Tuesday that Haider Saeed was detained in the Dahgal Naka area near Adiala Jail and taken to a nearby police post for questioning. The detention followed a late-night incident on Monday involving Khan’s high-profile transfer. He was being moved from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) back to prison after a medical checkup.

According to sources, Saeed recorded footage of the official motorcade outside the hospital, prompting a security response.

The 73-year-old cricketer-turned-politician has been jailed since August 2023 after convictions in multiple cases he says were politically motivated following his removal from office in a 2022 parliamentary vote.

Khan was taken to PIMS late Monday, where doctors administered a second anti-VEGF intravitreal injection as part of treatment for his eye condition. A report submitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan stated that he has been diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion and retains about 15% vision in his right eye. Authorities maintain that he is receiving proper medical care.

He has received two injections so far and is expected to undergo another dose in the coming weeks.
