Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, became visibly emotional after reports surfaced that her brother’s eyesight has severely deteriorated, with claims suggesting he can now see only about 15 percent. Witnesses described her breaking down in distress, saying a sister could do little but watch and pray as concerns over Khan’s health continue to mount during his incarceration at Adiala Jail.

The development coincided with proceedings at the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday, where a two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan heard matters related to Imran Khan’s prison conditions and medical access. During the hearing, Chief Justice Afridi summoned Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan to the rostrum and reviewed official reports submitted to the court.

The court directed the Government of Pakistan to ensure that Imran Khan is granted access to his personal physicians while in custody. It also permitted him to establish contact with his sons, Qasim and Sulaiman, a move seen by observers as a significant development regarding his welfare and communication rights.
PTI leaders Senator Faisal Javed, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Salman Akram Raja, and Aleema Khan attended the proceedings. The Chief Justice noted that the reports submitted by the friend of the court, Barrister Salman Safdar, and the jail superintendent were consistent, and instructed the Attorney General to read paragraph 21 of the report in open court.
Imran Khan, who served as Pakistan’s Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022, has remained at the center of Pakistan’s political turbulence since his removal from office through a parliamentary vote of no confidence. His legal battles, imprisonment, and reported health concerns have continued to draw intense national and international attention, deepening political divisions and raising ongoing questions about his treatment in custody.
