We want peace, but we are prepared if the war is imposed: DG ISPR

Pakistan remains committed to regional peace and stability but will not hesitate to respond forcefully to any aggression. DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry emphasizes that national security relies on Pakistan’s own strength, not on foreign intelligence.

In the latest interview with the BBC, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry reiterated that Pakistan advocates peace, but if India wants war, Pakistan is ready to face it.

Lt Gen Chaudhry called Indian claims of informing Pakistan before military attacks ‘absurd’. He reiterated that Pakistan does not rely on Indian intelligence for national security.

“We told them plainly that dialogue could only follow an appropriate response,” the DG ISPR stated. He added that following Pakistan’s retaliation, India’s military spokesperson publicly announced that New Delhi did not wish to escalate further.

“We prioritise peace and love peace, but we are always ready for war, and if war is needed, then so be it,” the military spokesperson said.

He credited Pakistan for showing restraint and recalled the US intervention during the time of the Pulwama attack. Lt Gen Chaudhry added that “External actors, too, want to avoid another South Asian war,” he said.

He added that Pakistan’s air defence systems instantly detected Indian drones when they breached the airspace of Pakistan.

“India keeps constructing false narratives to justify its actions every few years,” he said. He further criticised the Indian state, accusing it of being “hijacked by a terrorist act”.

Earlier in an interview, DG ISPR said, Director General Inter Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, says both Pakistan and China are working together for regional peace in his latest interview with the China media group.

He said Pakistan relies on its strength and determination. The international community’s role in peacekeeping is proportional to the country’s commitment to maintaining peace. “Prosperity always comes through peace and stability,” he said.

Speaking to China’s CGTN, Lt Gen Chaudhry said: “The most important thing is Pakistan’s resolve and its own strength. After Allah, we rely on ourselves and our own power. So only if we are resolute and have a strong commitment, which we have already shown [in the recent powerful response to Indian aggression] — the international community will also play its complete role.”

“In such a situation, should a country try to impose hegemony on other countries around it based on a false narrative, for no reason and without any evidence?” he asked.
