The PTI has urged the government to clarify growing “rumours” surrounding the health of imprisoned party founder Imran Khan and demanded immediate access for his family to meet him. The call comes after his sisters were repeatedly denied visitation, prompting sit-ins outside Adiala jail amid unverified social media claims—some amplified by foreign media—about his well being.

In a statement, the party insisted the government and interior ministry publicly dismiss the rumours and provide a transparent update on Imran’s health, security, and current status. It also called for an investigation into those spreading misinformation, warning the nation would not tolerate uncertainty regarding its leader.

Serious rumours about Imran Khan’s health shouldn’t surprise anyone. This is what happens when you keep a 72 year old most popular leader in solitary confinement and block his family and lawyers for 3 weeks. This silence is alarming.#RestoreAccessToImranKhan

Separately, PTI leader Meher Bano Qureshi noted that the most credible way to dispel speculation was to allow visits by his sisters, lawyers, and party officials.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif alleged that Imran receives special privileges in prison, including external food, TV access, and exercise equipment—contrasting it with the harsher conditions faced by PML-N leaders in past detentions. Imprisoned since August 2023, Imran is serving a sentence in a £190 million graft case and faces multiple ongoing trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act linked to the May 9 protests.
