Spotify is set to bring its video podcasts to Netflix next year as part of a new partnership announced on Tuesday.
The collaboration aims to expand Spotify’s video reach and strengthen its ad business by featuring select video podcasts on the global streaming giant.
At launch, the deal will introduce a curated mix of sports, culture, lifestyle, and true crime podcasts from Spotify Studios and The Ringer to Netflix. Over time, more genres and studios will be added to the lineup, Spotify confirmed.

Initially, the feature will be rolled out to U.S. audiences in early 2026, with plans to expand to international markets later.
Strategic shift toward video and monetization
The partnership reflects Spotify’s broader shift toward video-based content — a strategy it began implementing in recent years to compete with platforms like YouTube.
The company introduced tools that allowed any podcaster to upload video versions of their shows, along with monetization features under its Partner Program. Creators can now earn from ad revenue and audience engagement tools such as polls, Q&As, and comments.
Spotify’s video pivot follows a restructuring of its podcast division in 2023, which included layoffs and the departure of Dawn Ostroff, its former Chief Content and Business Officer. Under her leadership, Spotify invested heavily in exclusive podcasts and studio acquisitions like Parcast, The Ringer, and Gimlet Media, but the returns fell short of expectations.
The new focus on video — especially given its popularity among Gen Z — is designed to unlock fresh advertising opportunities and deeper user engagement.

Rising popularity of video podcasts
As of Q2 2025, Spotify hosts over 430,000 video podcasts, with video consumption growing 20 times faster than audio-only shows since 2024. More than 350 million users have streamed video content on the platform — a 65% increase year-over-year.
“This partnership marks a new chapter for podcasting,” said Roman Wasenmüller, Spotify’s VP and Head of Podcasts. “Together with Netflix, we’re expanding discovery, helping creators reach new audiences, and giving fans around the world more choice and access to the stories they love.”

Market impact and future outlook
Spotify declined to share financial details of its agreement with Netflix, including revenue-sharing specifics.
Despite recent drops in ad-supported revenue, the company remains optimistic about long-term growth through video, citing increasing engagement and monetization potential.
The partnership positions Spotify to reach wider audiences while providing Netflix with more diverse streaming content — a collaboration that could reshape the podcast-to-video landscape.
