Egyptian footballer Muhammad Salah who is named amongst the Time’s magazine ‘100 Most Influential People’ has called for the better treatment of women in the Muslim world.
Mo Salah, 26-year-old Liverpool forward believes women must be treated with more respect and be given more rights, especially at the place from where he belongs.
In an interview to the Time’s magazine, he said his attitude towards gender equality has transformed over the year and hence he wanted to see more change.
Mo Salah has been an influential sports celebrity who helped his country qualify for the 2018 World Cup, the first time they had reached the finals of the event since 1990.
“I think we need to change the way we treat women in our culture,” Salah was quoted as saying. “It´s not optional.” He said the treatment of women in his culture, the Egyptian culture and Middle East has changed his outlook on gender issues and women’s rights.
“I support the woman more than I did before, because I feel like she deserves more than what they give her now, at the moment,” Salah told the magazine.
The Time’s Magazine while honouring Mo Salah wrote: “Mo Salah is a better human being that he is a football player,” wrote Oliver. “And he’s one of the best football players in the world.

Mo Salah has been an influential sports celebrity who helped his country qualify for the 2018 World Cup, the first time they had reached the finals of the event since 1990.
He was named African Footballer of the Year 2017-2018 and English Football’s Player of the Year 2017-2018 for his charismatic performance after joining Liverpool. He scored 44 goals in his debut season at the club after joining it in 2017.
Expressing delight over the achievement Mo Salah further said: “People always have big expectations from you,” he added. “You see the kids, they’re wearing your shirt and they say they wish they could be like you one day.

“So they put you under pressure a bit, but that is something that makes you proud about what you have reached until now.”
