Disturbing messages of hate are spreading across America.

For weeks and months, we’ve seen evidence of the “Trump Effect.” A report released in April by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) concluded that the the toxic chatter and prejudice toward “otherness” exposed in the presidential race was creating a palpable “level of fear and anxiety among children of color and inflaming racial and ethnic tensions in the classroom.” But that was then. And now, with the election behind us, the Trump Effect has taken to the streets. Trump supporters have spray-painted swastikas on windows and etched racial slurs into bathroom walls…
