Bollywood Day celebrated in LUMS, gets mixed reviews

Some of the users said that children in Pakistan have grown up watching Bollywood movies and character that are being played by students.

A video of students celebrating Bollywood Day at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is making round on social media.

The video is garnering mixed views on social media. Some are slamming the students while others are supporting fun activities in the universities. Video shared on social media shows students dressing up like famous Bollywood characters like Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan) from Dabang, Devdas (Shah Rukh Khan), Alia Bhatt from Student of the Year, Paresh Rawal from Hera Pheri, Aamir Khan from Lagaan movie and others. The video has garnered thousands of views on Twitter.

The video is garnering mixed reviews on social media. “These kids only celebrated Bollywood Day, I loved the fun they had. What’s wrong with it? Let them live a few happy years of their lives before they are trapped in mundane situations of practical life when in jobs,” Shama Junejo. Majority of the people believe that there is no harm if people are enjoying their final days at the university.

“Pakistan failed to implement sharia law ( religious law) because no one wants it including the educated younger generations. People just talk about sharia and religion all the time in Pakistan. Bhai don’t be so hard-hearted,” read one comment under the Twitter post.

Some of the users said that children in Pakistan have grown up watching Bollywood movies and character that are being played by students. There was no vulgarity in the video and hence there is no issue in celebrating such events.

“Wese to be honest hum sab ye movies dekhte hue barhay hue hain. They all look pretty cute. Kuch vulgar ni tha kuch harmful ni tha. So itna koi barha issue ni nzar ni aa ra is main,” said one female user.
