Catalonia’s ‘silent majority’ breaks silence in pro-Spain rally

Violence erupts in Barcelona as Nazi-saluting fascists chant ‘Viva Franco’ and clash with police during a million-strong pro-union protest demanding jailing of Catalan’s deposed president who could face 30 YEARS behind bars.

The protesters say they are the so-called “silent majority”, who don’t support Catalonia’s independence bid.

Hundreds of thousands of people have rallied in Barcelona, calling for Spain to stay united.

While supporters of the secessionist movement worry it is losing its momentum, some of these pro-union protesters were demanding the arrest of sacked Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont.

  • Crowds draped in Spanish flags and singing, ‘Viva España’, demanded Carles Puigdemont is sent to prison
  • Belgium has weighed in on the debate and said it might grant Puigdemont asylum if Spain threaten to arrest
  • Catalan independence parties appear to be losing their parliamentary majority ahead of December’s election
  • Thousands were chanting, ‘this time we are going to vote,’ declaring intentions to hit the ballot box on the 21st

Spanish officials organized a unionist march through central Barcelona today in which they claimed more than a million people took part to resoundingly reject Catalonia’s declaration of independence.
