It looks like Deepika Padukone will be suiting up as India’s very own Wonder Woman soon. The A-list Bollywood actress has been tapped to become India’s first female superhero. The film is said to have a massive budget of Rs 300 Crore (that’s 508 crore in Pakistani Rupees) and will be one of the most expensive Bollywood films ever made. In fact sources claim that the studio behind the film is planning a franchise with at least two parts, with the first scheduled to roll out no sooner than 2019.
It is said that the film will be heavily influenced by Wonder Woman from the tone and look of the film to the costume itself. Padukone’s superhero costume will be designed and custom made for her the same way superhero outfits in American movies and shows are made. The custom made attire will facilitate the actress in physical combat and action scenes.

The rumor mill is also stating that she is already in talks with the team behind the movie to take a part in the development of the movie though details are being kept under wraps. She is even expected to undergo mixed martial arts training for the film. Padukone has been enjoying the success of her most recent film Padmaavat which is one of the highest grossing Bollywood films of all time and for which she was paid a salary of 12 crore, the highest for an Indian actress ever.
Her next project was supposed to be a Vishal Bhardawaj film starring Irrfan Khan but due to health issues of both Khan and Padukone shooting for the film has been delayed. This will be the first project Deepika Padukone will sign since Padmawat and so it won’t be without hype. Deepika Padukone is already considered a queen by her fans but with this project she will undoubtedly establish herself as an icon across the world.
