Fawad Chaudhry exposes PML-N’s internal divisions

Shahid Khaqan claimed that Maryam Nawaz is not a prime minister’s candidate of PML-N. Meanwhile, Muhammad Zubair denied Shahid Khan Abbasi's statements. Reacting to the inconsistent narratives, Fawad Chaudhry remarked that there are internal divisions in PML-N.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry once again exposed the internal divisions between PML-N. According to Minister, the rift within the Opposition is “karma.”

Fawad Chaudhry took notice of PML-N leaders Shahid Khaqan and Muhammad Zubair’s contradictory statements on the future PML-N candidate for prime minister.

To clarify, earlier, Shahid Khaqan claimed that PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz is not a prime minister’s candidate of PML-N. He also said she is not eligible to contest the election owing to corruption charges on her. Shahid Khaqan further asserted that the PML-N prime minister’s candidate will be the party president Shehbaz Sharif.

Important to note, Shahid Khaqan made the statements due to PML-N’s general practice of choosing the party president as a candidate for prime minister.

“It has been a general practice that whoever is the party president becomes the prime minister. Shehbaz Sharif is the party president and he will be our candidate,” Shahid Khaqan said.

On the other hand, former Governor Sindh and senior PML-N leader Muhammad Zubair denied the statement of Shahid Khan Abbasi. He said that the corruption case against Maryam Nawaz is weak. He also noted that Shehbaz Sharif will lead the party campaign as the president.

Opposition facing outcome of their deeds: Fawad Chaudhry

Reacting to the inconsistent statements, Fawad Chaudhry remarked that there are internal divisions in PML-N.

“Statements of Shahid Khaqan and Mohammad Zubair have further clarified the divisions within the PML-N,” the Minister tweeted.

“The families brought destruction to the country, now they are facing karma. There will be new leadership in N-league which is good. PPP should also move past Zardari,” the Minister further added.

Elections of powerful local governments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this month and in Punjab in the next few months were a manifestation of the confidence of the government, he remarked.

He said that the PPP and PML-N could not field enough candidates in KP and the same situation would emerge in Punjab.

He opined that only one or two television news channels were trying to keep their practically dead politics alive.
