French teen left in coma after school attack in France

The assault took place on Tuesday afternoon outside Arthur Rimbaud college in the district of La Mosson-La Paillade.

In a disturbing incident that has shaken the community in the southern city of Montpellier, France, a 14-year-old girl named Samara was left severely wounded and in a coma after being viciously beaten by three other teenagers outside her school. The attack has prompted an urgent investigation by the French government amidst heightened tensions surrounding schools in the country.

The Response

Nicole Belloubet, the education minister, swiftly ordered an investigation by inspectors from her ministry to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the attack. The investigation, which commenced on Friday, aims to establish the truth and determine responsibilities. Belloubet emphasized the importance of uncovering the reality of the situation, asserting that Samara deserves nothing less than the truth.

Family’s Perspective

Samara’s mother, Hassiba, expressed her bewilderment over the constant bullying her daughter endured, suggesting that it may have been triggered by her perceived liberation compared to other students. She accused one of the attackers of being the instigator behind the assault, alleging that the same student had previously published a photo of Samara on social media, advocating for her rape. Hassiba’s statements shed light on the prolonged harassment her daughter endured and the possible motivations behind the attack.

National Response

President Emmanuel Macron conveyed solidarity with Samara and her family while urging caution in drawing premature conclusions about the circumstances surrounding the assault. Macron emphasized the importance of establishing the full truth in a calm manner before drawing any conclusions. His measured response highlights the gravity of the situation and the need for a thorough investigation.
