Heartwarming encounter of caretaker PM Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar with child sparks criticism

As Caretaker PM Kakar's heartwarming encounter draws attention, the nation's focus remains on the upcoming elections and the responsible execution of the caretaker government's duties.

Pakistan’s newly appointed caretaker PM, Senator Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, shared a heartwarming video on his Twitter account, capturing a delightful encounter with a young child and her mother during a follow-up dentist visit.

The video, accompanied by the caption, “I went for a follow-up dentist visit today and had a delightful encounter with a young girl and her mother in the waiting room. We even snapped some lovely pictures together,” has garnered varied responses from netizens.

In the video, Caretaker PM Kakar is seen interacting warmly with the child, engaging in conversation, and capturing the moment through a photograph. While some praised the endearing interaction, others reminded him of his role as the caretaker Prime Minister, urging him to prioritize his responsibility of facilitating the election process rather than engaging in PR optics.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s ascent to the position of caretaker Prime Minister marked a significant development. The Balochistan Awami Party Senator was chosen as the interim head of government following consultations between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Raja Riaz. The decision received a prompt endorsement from President Alvi under Article 224 A of the Constitution.

The appointment followed deliberations that indicated a preference for the caretaker Prime Minister to hail from a smaller province. Kakar’s name was proposed by Raja Riaz and subsequently approved.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, an independent senator from Balochistan since 2018, has served in prominent roles within the Senate. He chaired the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and was a member of various committees including Business Advisory, Finance and Revenue, Foreign Affairs, and Science and Technology. His leadership extended to being the parliamentary leader for the Balochistan Awami Party within the Senate, a role he held for five years until recently replaced.

The announcement of Kakar’s selection came amid speculation that PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif was advocating for former finance minister Ishaq Dar or former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to be chosen as the caretaker Premier.

As Caretaker PM Kakar’s heartwarming encounter draws attention, the nation’s focus remains on the upcoming elections and the responsible execution of the caretaker government’s duties.
