ICC nominates Muhammad Rizwan for player of month award

While Rizwan sits at the top of the ICC T20I batters ranking with 854 points, Babar Azam has slipped down to the third spot.

International Cricket Council (ICC) has nominated Muhammad Rizwan in the list of Men’s Player of the Month (September).

Pakistani wicket-keeper batter currently sits at the top of the Men’s ICC T20I batters list. He is joined by India’s Axar Pater and Australia’s Cameron Green in the ICC nomination. Rizwan has scored 316 runs at an average of 63.20 in the recently concluded T20I series against England. He scored four half-centuries at a strike rate of 138.59.

Australia’s Cameron Green has become the second-fastest Australian to score 52 off 21 balls. India’s Axar Patel bagged the highest eight wickets in the home series against Australia.

Muhammad Rizwan shares a strong opening duo with skipper Babar Azam. Both the players have managed to set record opening partnership record in the recent past for Pakistan. While Rizwan sits at the top of the ICC T20I batters ranking with 854 points, Babar Azam has slipped down to the third spot from his first position with 801 points. Earlier, Babar Azam had dropped down to the second number, where Rizwan was previously.

Rizwan has now ascended to the top position in the list; skipper Azam dropped in the rankings following his consecutive underperformance in the last three Asia Cup 2022 matches. Babar Azam needs to score big in the upcoming matches to jump back to the top spot. Babar Azam ruled the top position for 1000 days;

In the second T20I against England, the opening duo sets the highest-ever opening partnership record in T20 internationals. Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan are an opening pair for the Pakistani cricket team; their consistent strong partnership has strengthened the batting side of Pakistan. For the year, Pakistan had struggled to have a stable opening pair. Babar Azam and Rizwan have been building games for Pakistan for the past year.
