The cricketer turned politician Imran Khan, chief of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), has married for the third time on Sunday. Khan chose Bushra Maneka, a respected faith healer (Pir) in Pakpattan, to be his third wife and the Internet just couldn’t take it. The cricket legend has always been a sensation on the Internet and his party is the biggest party on social media according to every survey but you won’t need a survey to figure that out.
Some people were ecstatic at the news of Khan’s marriage and wished him a very happy married life. It included senior PTI leadership and thousands of Khan’s followers.

While some people were genuinely happy about Khan’s new matrimony, others were a bit resentful. Many were even embarrassed that their leader was busy wooing a woman when instead he was supposed to focus on the upcoming elections. The rival parties’ supporters jeered Khan for marrying for a third time as if marriage is the purpose of his life.

Even though some were mocking the PTI chief, the majority of the crowd was behind his back and offered their full support to Khan. He was also appreciated by some followers for marrying a divorced mother of five children even though he could marry whoever he wants. The Insafians, who stated that marriage is a Sunnah, also defended Khan saying there is nothing wrong with it.

All major news agencies of the world covered the news of Khan’s marriage which shows his stature and standing in the international arena.
A Pakistani English newspaper, The News, had claimed Khan’s marriage with Bushra Maneka in an article on 6th January but the claim was refuted by Khan and PTI, stating that Khan had merely proposed to Maneka. When the formal news was announced, The News staff felt triumphant and they were quick to claim the spoils of victory.
